Lightning in the Bay Area

September 8, 1999

It is very, very rare to have a thunder or lightning storm in the Bay Area. People who grew up on the East Coast, are well aware of these summer storms and can't understand why Northern Californians make a big deal of it. This storm lasted all night and put on an incredible light show. I went up to a hill-top at Stanford University which offered a 360 degree view.

Picture A and B were facing south-west towards the Santa Cruz mountains, while picture C is overlooking Palo Alto.
